‘Akarsha’, a romantic tale which gives a message to heal the wounds of a three decade long Sri Lankan war is the latest cinematic direction of Suneth Malinga Lokuhewa who shot to fame with his earlier direction ‘Sinhawalokanaya’. Set in the backdrop of a war the film portrays a love affair between a beautiful Tamil music teacher and a Sinhala army officer.
The film is to hit the theaters at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. Another Sri Lankan born Indian actress Anchal Singh has been cast in the the film for the main role. Though she was born in Sri Lanka she has grown up in Delhi, Chandigarh and Bangalore. It is significant that she has appeared in 60 television commercials within a year.
Anchal was previously cast in the film Sri Siddharatha Gauthama for the role of Princess Yashodara.
