Court orders probe into lack of autopsy on Sobitha Thero’s death

A court order has been issued today (05) to probe the reasons not to perform a post-mortem on the death of Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero, Ada Derana reporter said.

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has directed the National Hospital Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe to submit a report in this regard without any delay.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had recorded a statement from Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero over a controversial statement that he made regarding the death earlier as well. Dhammaloka Thero claimed the death of the former Chief Incumbent of the Kotte Nagavihara is suspicious and therefore called for an investigation into it.

Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader MP Udaya Gammanpila also stressed that a Presidential Committee should be appointed to probe the sudden death of the late monk.
