Media has failed to ‘give’ what people ‘really’ want - Herath

It is difficult to expect respectful journalism when the social system of a country is evil, unjust, rotten and propagated through the political system, JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath says.


The observation was made while speaking at the ‘Deli Pihiyen Kiri Kema’ dialogue which was held at the BMICH this morning (04).


He pointed out that it is almost impossible to find respectful leaders, religious leaders, or journalists in a society like this.



Herath also went on to say that since the media has turned into a profit oriented industry, and since it has to carry out someone else’s propaganda, it has failed to ‘give’ what people ‘really’ want.


Herath said in these circumstances, journalists have to work against their conscience to fulfill the needs of their organization.
